Bucket List Journeys is a dedicated .org non-profit travel co-op for like-minded enthusiasts over 50. We value slower cultural experiences over fast-paced sightseeing, and community contribution over passive consumption.
Journeys are planned by experienced members and costs shared equally, so our small-group adventures are more affordable and enriching than typical group tours.
Upcoming Bucket List Journeys
The Algarve (Southern Portugal), Winter 2027
Travelers on a budget who appreciate mild winter weather and longer trips can explore this popular destination with our small group from mid-January through mid-February. Accommodations are half price during the off season and the area is less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed immersive experience. Staying in the regional capital (Faro) makes it easy to visit numerous attractions from Lagos in the west to the Spanish border in the east on leisurely day trips by train. You would need to book your own flight to Lisbon and the ability to climb stairs and board trains with minimal assistance.
Cruising: Historic Cities in Italy, Greece and Croatia
If your ideal journey combines exploration of history, music, art, and cuisine with time in some spectacular scenery, then this Costa cruise in September 2026 will not disappoint! You would need to travel on your own to Venice and book your own stateroom. Below is a link to a presentation on this epic adventure.
Community and Volunteer Travel
We are very interested in volunteer and community engagement projects. Most that we've seen involve exorbitant participation fees and don't really seem like authentic opportunities. If you are aware of alternatives, we love to hear about them!

Dahab, Egypt is a bohemian town on the Red Sea where you can walk from a café directly into the water to swim or snorkel. You can find high-quality seaside guesthouses for a fraction of US prices in the town, which is filled with colorful Bedouin-style architecture, vibrant street markets and mountain backdrops. We hope and pray peace will be restored in the region soon.
